Reaction Behavior of Na2SO4-Containing Copper Matte Powders in a Simulated Flash Converting Process

Sodium sulfate accumulation in the water system is a common problem production of primary metals from sulfide minerals. In flash smelting-flash converting copper smelters, when molten matte quenched industrial to produce granules, Na2SO4 precipitated and entered system, which had negative influence on process. The reaction behaviors powder containing have been studied through thermodynamic calculation single-particle experiments. Calculated results showed that liquid phase, Na2S matte, Cu–Na alloy may form processing conditions dosage, fluxing conditions, temperature has systematically studied, obtained that: (1); physically particles, phase was found within reacted particles; (2); contamination hindered oxygen transfer by forming low melting de-sulfuration rate changed dramatically along with variation amount; (3); CaO flux able promote reactions transformation; (4); melt formed sulphate layer particles at 1000 °C, samples collected 1200 Cu–Na–O detected blister 1600 °C.
